Bicycle Streamers

Boutique style, ribbon bicycle streamers is an idea that I have had for a while now. I made a set a while back that sold on eBay (pictured below). The only problem was that I had deconstructed a cheap set of streamers to get the little piece that attached the streamers to the grip/handle. I had been searching for a long time for a piece that would work to attach them. I finally decided to use a wide strip of elastic that can wrap around the handle. They turned out really cute! I have already made two sets, and added them to my shop. I plan on making more soon... My kids really love them (which is a good sign). Sienna, my two year old, has already requested a set with some Dora ribbon that we saw at the store. The good thing about using the elastic is that they fit on tricycles and scooters too.

Above photo is of the first set that I made a while back.

Two photos above are of the new streamers added to my Etsy shop.

I sure hope that they sell:)

Ancient Modern Polymer Clay Design Challenge

Some sweet person from beading daily informed me of a polymer clay bead contest that they have going on.
"To enter, design one original polymer clay bead (any size, shape, or color) using any technique and send us a photo."
Looks like a fun contest!
I have my thinking cap on....Hmmm....
Deadline is June 5, 2009.

Not a Bead Star:(

I am not a Bead Star.
Here are the two pieces that I entered:

Lemon Drop Seed Beaded Tassel Earrings
(entered in the seed bead category)

desert flower necklace
(entered in the plastics category)

Neither of them made it:( After voting, I just think that I was not quite in tune with what they were looking for. To tell the truth, I have never even read Stringing magazine...oops! That probably would have been of some help! Oh well, I plan on entering again next year. It was really easy to enter, and I really like the designs that I came up with.
P.S. I plan on posting tutorials for making both the earrings and the necklace sometime soon.

Homemade Dog Treats

My house smells garlicky!
I have not been able to find a good selection of "healthy" dog treats (without sugar) at Walmart, so I decided to make my own.
I found a couple of good recipes here.
This is the Canine "Party" Snacks:
My pup loved them!
Plus, they were really easy to make...inexpensive too:)

Recent Custom Orders and My Kitchen Mosaic...

A couple of custom cheerleader beads that I just finished:
Here is the mosaic that I just finished in my kitchen.
It is right above our stove/oven. I also painted the walls a terra cotta color. The mosaic was made with broken Mexican tiles. It's pretty bright, but the only color that we have in our kitchen. Goes well with our cobalt Fiestaware dishes too:)

P.S. Don't forget to enter my giveaway!

Tweet on a (real) Stick

Here is one of my little birds on a real stick!

The blob at the bottom is liquid polymer clay. I used it to add strength and stability.
Also, I upgraded my magnets from those big, bulky, black ceramic ones to the teeny, tiny, cute, neodymium magnets! They are so strong too (and much better looking)!
I have added this magnet to my etsy shop.

A recent custom order...and my son's version too

This is a character from the show "Supernatural":
I was amazed by how well Charles' angel turned out!
The only help that I gave him was the clay amounts. He did the rest!
